September Is National Preparedness Month;
ShakeOut is 10/15 at 10:15 am
Millions of people worldwide will practice how to “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” during the Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drills, which began in California in 2008. It’s part of America’s PrepareAthon, a grassroots campaign for action to increase community preparedness and resilience.
This is a good opportunity to prepare for other hazards, too. You may just need to slightly modify your emergency preparedness kits and plans for other disasters like winter storms, floods or wildfires. Or, now’s the time to get prepared.

National Preparedness Month
This September, make a plan with your community, your family, and for your pets. Plan how to stay safe and communicate during the disasters that can affect your community. Everyone can participate in America’s PrepareAthon! and the national day of action, National PrepareAthon! Day, which culminates National Preparedness Month on September 30.
